Where the Gupta "85%" figure comes from

The Gupta program’s MCS page states an eighty-five percent improvement in MCS "in our latest randomised controlled trial." The same page, two paragraphs down, attributes the same figure to "our latest independent clinical audit" over three months; the program’s public presentations describe that audit as self-rated health and functioning across sixteen conditions. An audit of self-ratings with no control group, no blinding and no objective tolerance testing is not a randomized controlled trial.

What we know

Amygdala and Insula Retraining is the Gupta program’s method: a structured neuroplasticity practice aimed at calming threat circuits. It does have randomized studies — a 2012 pilot in chronic fatigue, a 2020 fibromyalgia pilot, and a 2023 trial in Long COVID fatigue against an active control. None is in MCS. Its MCS evidence is the audit described here.

A registered Finnish randomized trial intends to include MCS among functional disorders; its ClinicalTrials.gov record shows no results and a last status of recruiting.

What the evidence shows

The audit asked people who had used the program to rate their health and function; the MCS subgroup reported an 85 percent improvement. The MCS subgroup size and any conflict disclosure were not confirmable from public sources on 11 September 2026 and are stated here only once the underlying report is obtained. Whatever the number, that design cannot distinguish the program from time, from concurrent exposure reduction, from a move, from regression to the mean, or from the wish not to have wasted money.

Calling it a randomized controlled trial on a sales page is not a small error. It is the difference between testimony and evidence, presented to sick people deciding how to spend their money and their hope. This site does not accuse the program of not helping anyone; some people report it did. It records that the advertised evidence level is not the actual one.

What the registry is answering

Among people meeting the criteria who used Gupta or any program: which outcomes changed, for how long, with what else changing alongside — the data an honest program would want.

Where we stand

The 85% figure is from an uncontrolled self-report study with a disclosed conflict, not from a randomized trial. Read the advertising with that in hand.
